
Hakim is a fitness specialist with a unique blend of expertise in exercise physiology, self defense, mixed martial arts as well as group and personal training. Hakim is a seasoned fitness trainer and a highly experienced and accredited mixed martial artist.
Hakim earned his black belt in Karate Shotokan in 1991 and went on to lead the Egyptian Special Forces into the first Gulf War between 1992 and 1995. In that time, he developed a passion for mastering self defense and exploiting the body’s potential. This led him to begin instructing athletic sports teams on the essence of strength training and conditioning individually and with the University of Alexandria. Shortly after, Hakim became a Body Building Champion and continued to train individual athletes for amateur and national body building competitions until 1999. In 2010, he earned Kru status in the Muay Thai martial arts technique under nationally renowned Kru/Sifu Harun Raja.
In 2005, Hakim came to America to earn a series of titles and championships. Upon arrival, he began training with elite instructors for his own competitions and Hakim became the New England Super Heavyweight Mixed Martial Arts (NAGA) Champion in 2006. He also became the World Fighter Leader Champion in 2005 and the A.G.C. Grappling Champion in 2007. He walked away undefeated in all three arenas with multiple victories.
Shortly after, Hakim decided to help other athletes reach their potential and he began Mixed Martial Arts coaching at the South Shore Fighting School (2006-2007), where he assisted Scott Lockhart in training other fighters. In his recreational time, He also sparred with Bobby McMaster and other UFC Fighters.
In concurrence to his work as a professional MMA Coach, Hakim took it upon himself to teach private self defense courses for individuals and community members. He also began offering comprehensive fitness training programs, as well as community recreation activities, geared towards individuals and groups focused on improving their health, enhancing physical fitness and caring for their overall well being.
Hakim also assisted the academic fitness coach at Boston College in training the Division I Men and Women Athletic Fitness teams in the 2008-2009 season after receiving his CPR & AED certificate from the American Heart Association in 2008, along with his personal training certification from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America.
Hakim Ahmed has over twelve years of expertise in body building, strength training, mixed martial arts and weight loss. He’s a very friendly and motivational coach who is engaged in working with groups and individuals (adults, elderly and youth) across Massachusetts to help them achieve their individual health and fitness goals.
Currently, Hakim serves the East Boston YMCA as a Self-Defense Trainer and as the Head Coach and Mixed Martial Arts instructor for Unlimited Fitness where he teaches the fundamental nature of cage fighting.
